Rezolve.ai vs Espressive Barista: what to run when Barista becomes RITA

Espressive built one of the best-liked virtual support agents in the market, then was acquired by Resolve in September 2025, and the Barista brand is being retired. Rezolve.ai is the independent agentic alternative with a system of record included.

The short version

Espressive's Barista deserved its reputation: excellent NLP, a first-class ServiceNow integration, and real deflection results reported by customers. But espressive.com now redirects to resolve.io, the Gartner Peer Insights listing has been retitled "Resolve RITA", and the roadmap belongs to Resolve's IT-ops automation strategy. Every Barista customer is effectively migrating to something, the only question is what.

Rezolve.ai is the like-for-like-and-more path: the same employee-facing conversational AI in Teams and Slack, plus execution (not just deflection), voice support, HR coverage, and an ITSM system of record, from an independent vendor whose whole business is employee support.

Choose Rezolve.ai if…

  • You're a Barista customer who wants a committed, independent employee-support vendor rather than a brand transition
  • You want deflection to become execution: resolutions performed, not just answered
  • You need an ITSM system of record included, or a governed front end over your current one
  • HR support with anonymity matters alongside IT
  • You want voice (VoiceIQ) on the same platform

Choose Espressive if…

  • You're betting on Resolve's broader IT-ops automation platform and want its runbook automation with RITA
  • Your Barista deployment is deeply tuned, working, and mid-contract, and you'd rather ride out the transition

Why teams switch from Espressive

The brand you bought is being retired

The website is gone, the product renamed, the roadmap re-pointed at Resolve's Zero Ticket IT strategy. Even satisfied Barista customers are re-evaluating rather than renewing on autopilot.

Deflection was the ceiling

Barista answered brilliantly but reviewers wanted ticketing, change and problem management it never had. Rezolve.ai answers, executes and records: one product, one audit trail.

The learning loop was thin

Non-customizable reports made it hard to see what to automate next. DeskIQ turns your ticket history into a ranked automation roadmap with projected impact.

What Espressive is, rated 4.6/5 on Gartner Peer Insights

Espressive's Barista was an AI virtual support agent for employee self-service across IT and HR, known for its Employee Language Cloud NLP. PeerSpot reviewers rate it 4.4/5 and cite 70–80% deflection; its Gartner Peer Insights listing stands at 4.6/5 (11 reviews). Barista is a deflection layer: reviewers themselves asked for ticket creation and change/problem management, which it doesn't have, and reporting customization is a documented gap.

On September 10, 2025 Espressive was acquired by Resolve (an Insight Partners-backed IT automation vendor) to accelerate its "Zero Ticket IT" strategy. Resolve's site no longer mentions Barista, its agents are RITA and Jarvis, and Espressive's market mindshare was already declining year over year before the deal. Pricing was quote-based, per-employee.

Moving off Espressive

Barista migrations are clean: it holds conversations and intents, not records. Point Rezolve.ai at the same knowledge sources and ITSM, let DeskIQ rank the top intents from 12 months of history, and rebuild them as executing skills rather than deflection flows. Most teams pilot in one department in Teams alongside Barista, compare resolution (not just answer) rates, then cut over channel by channel.
